Manage musical numbers

Create numbers in advance and edit their names, types and associated score.

Prepare Time to go before writing its scene, or rename a number already placed in the script.

  1. In the Music sidebar, use Add music.
  2. Enter Time to go in Music title.
  3. Choose Song or Instrumental under Type.
  4. Choose Add music.

The new number appears under Unassigned. To use it in the script, select it through # in a Stage direction.

In the attribute manager’s Music view, Create music opens the same creation dialog. Creating a catalog entry there also leaves it unassigned.

Use the pencil beside its sidebar entry, Manage music. For Time to go, its accessible label is Edit Time to go.

You can also use Open music in attribute manager at the top of the sidebar, then select the number in Music. The title pill’s controls offer Manage music too.

  1. Select it in the manager.
  2. Change Name to Time to leave.
  3. Press Enter or leave the field to finish editing.

The linked music title in the script updates. Its placement and score stay associated with the same number. Ordinary words in prose, such as Robin sings Time to go., are separate from the linked music title.

You can also edit the name directly in its music pill. Press Enter or leave its title field to finish editing.

In the manager, change Type:

  • Song: use for a number containing singing.
  • Instrumental: use for music without sung words.

The type changes the number’s classification and icon. It does not convert existing Dialogue or Lyrics blocks. Choose their types to describe spoken and sung text.
